Parks and Recs April Ludgate Celebrates the Anniversary of Neutral Milk Hotels Finest Work

Neutral Milk Hotel’s lo-fi yet sonically eclectic and emotionally wrought classic In the Aeroplane Over the Sea was released fifteen years ago this week. To note and celebrate this important anniversary, we reached out to the band’s biggest fan, Parks and Recreation’s April Ludgate, who nearly destroyed her relationship with Andy in season three when she declared Neutral Milk Hotel her favorite band (instead of Mouse Rat) and its singer/songwriter/genius Jeff Mangum her favorite rock star (instead of Andy).

Paul Rudd Wants to Have Dinner with Buff Jesus

Paul Rudd plays a spy who helps take down the Nazis in his latest film, The Catcher Was a Spy, which premieres this weekend at Sundance. When we asked him who he’d spy on, living or dead, if he had the chance, he demurred. So, we tweaked our question to be slightly less creepy: Who would he have a dinner with? Buff Jesus Christ, of course. “I mean, what a physique on that guy,” laughed Rudd.

Pete Holmes Talks to Sinbad About Getting Started, Being Clean, and Getting a Deaf Guy to Laugh

Sinbad and Pete Holmes. When comedians talk about their influences, there are certain names that come up over and over — Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, Steven Wright, Sarah Silverman, Dave Chappelle, Dave Attell. But there is another kind of influence that is just as important, the immensely popular kind that happens to correspond with a comedian-to-be’s childhood. Sinbad, who had a run of superstardom in the early and mid-’90s, is one of those comedians, and Pete Holmes, host of The Pete Holmes Show on TBS and the “You Made It Weird” podcast, was one such young comedy fan.

Peter Berg on His Wild The Last Seduction Sex Scenes With Linda Fiorentino

Make Hollywood Horny Again A week-long celebration of erotic thrillers. Make Hollywood Horny Again A week-long celebration of erotic thrillers. Peter Berg and Linda Fiorentino in The Last Seduction. This piece originally ran in 2014 but we are republishing it as part of Vulture ‘s week-long erotic thriller celebration. A good sex scene is about a lot more than just showing some skin. (Though sometimes it’s about that, too!) In director John Dahl’s 1994 neo-noir The Last Seduction, Linda Fiorentino’s femme-fatale character Bridget Gregory turns sex into a spider’s web — a tool for ensnaring her victims.

Pumpkin, The 5th Wave Is Plagued Not by Aliens But, Rather, an Undercooked Concept

Fighting aliens, losing childhoods. “Pumpkin, there’s nothing safe anymore.” That’s what calmly downcast Oliver Sullivan (Ron Livingston) tells his teenage daughter, Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz), partway through the new young-adult dystopian sci-fi The 5th Wave, and it’s a good example of the kind of very thin, deadly line the film tries to walk. It’s a movie not just about losing one’s innocence (that’s what all YA books and movies are about these days) but about soft centers and hard shells — about the cute colliding with the cruel.

Rachel Bloom Tells the Stories Behind 8 Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Songs

“The Sexy Getting Ready Song.” Ever since Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premiered on The CW last October, the show has charmed viewers with its blend of unconventional comedy, romance, and, of course, original songs. More than three dozen songs have been featured throughout the course of the first season, ranging in theme from yoga to self-loathing. “All of the songs come from the plots of the episode, so we can’t really start conceiving a new song until we know what the episode is about,” the star and co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rachel Bloom, explains.

Remember When MAD Magazine Was Scandalous?

I came across this absolutely insane MAD Magazine collector’s website today, which has cover images and descriptions of literally every issue ever released. And while MAD’s humor doesn’t exactly hold up under my grown-up scrutiny, it had an undeniable impact on my burgeoning comedy-loving brain when I was a kid. When I was in 4th grade in 1993, I secretly bought MAD Magazine’s Sex and Dating special issue. On the cover, it featured a blond woman sticking her tongue into Alfred E.

Rosala Is Down Bad in New Single LLYLM

Our motomami is treating a bad case of unrequited love with un delirio de grandeza. “Lo diré en inglés y me entenderás” (“I’ll say it in English and you’ll understand me”), she sings on “LLYLM,” her first single of 2023 and second track sung (partially) in English. “I don’t need honesty / Baby, lie like you love me.” She teased the track in a January 9 TikTok, featuring the desperate lyrics “Cover me in a dream, I’ll be yours, our fantasy.
